COMENIUS – “COMMON GOODS AND PEACE”
MEETING BRANDBU NORWAY
07.11.2010- 12.11.2010
REPORT COORDINATORS’ MEETING .
1.Welcome:
Arnfinn Nilsen , coördinator and pedagogical leader of Hadeland secondary school welcomes the delegations from Italy, Hungary, Germany and Belgium. He hopes for a quality meeting offering lots of opportunities to deepen the knowledge concerning COMMON GOODS AND PEACE and , of course, to make new friends and experience the warm Norwegian hospitality. He still regrets the date for the meeting – november- but we assure him that, because of the low temperatures and the beginning snowfall , we get a perfect idea of what Norway can be like in Winter! Cold but so beautiful!!!

2. Blog:
Ferenc Naacke from Dresden introduces the blog he’s installed for the Common Goods and Peace project. The ideal way to communicate , for coördinators as well as for pupils (via their teacher / coördinator).
Suggestions:this BLOG can be used for sharing information, photos of meetings, videos , texts, reports, mails,…

3.Reference to welcome by Lord Mayor:
On Monday 08.11.2010 all delegations spent part of the morning at Gran Municipality where they were welcomed by the Lord Mayor, introducing Brandbu, Gran and Hadeland .
A specialist in energy refers to the theme of the project , stating that norway is a country rich in Common Goods. These are being provided on 3 levels , the state , the county and the municipality. In the 1830’s Norwegian municipalities were established. 200 years later the situation is the same but the tasks are different. Having to take care of education, welfare, mass media… brings in different terms , solutions and principles ( ex. climate change, local solutions for general world wide problems!).
Scandinavian countries reach a high level of COMMON GOODS Thinking of the oil and the Scandinavian model of high level of welfare 2 solutions come up: education in democracy (for all!) and the trust between people and government .
A clear example is given in the greenhouse gases (caused by climate change) leading to new challenges for each municipality. They try to reach 3 main goals: reducing CO2 greenhouse gas, more efficient use of energy and change from fossile energy sources to renewable energy sources (problem: cars, heating of houses!)
The solution is summarized in key words such as: solar energy, recycling, turndown heating, public transport, biomass energy…
Concluding this lecture the question is put: what is your opportunity to change something, to have an impact? Basic answer is in “young people”! They can make the difference!!! (local council,Young politicians… )
This visit to the town hall and this interesting lectur really put the focus correctly on the topic of this COMENIUS project: Common Goods and Peace!
