Dear friends and partners,
I hope you are all fine and doing well in your family and at school.
I also do hope you selected your pupils and colleagues to form the delegation to visit Törökbàlint in Hugary next March, 2011. Have you booked your flight and informed our Hungarian colleagues? Please, contact Kata as well as Mihael.
Kata sent me a first draft of the list of hosts and hotel rooms , Mihael prepared a list of programme issues and some questions to be solved in the presentations by the delegations on the topic of Food!
Indeed, this meeting's topic in FOOD as a COMMON GOOD! It all looks very challenging and interesting . I hope we'll learn more about the problem of FOOD as a COMMON through the presentations your pupils will bring. If you have special demands, ideas or problems , please, do not hesitate to contact Mihael, kata or myself.
We are all looking forward to meeting you , your colleagues and pupils again in the fascinating and - to me at least - always a bit mysterious Hungarian city of budapest, Törökbàlint and - who knows- the Hungarian poesta! Don't forget to excercise for a passionate Czardas ...
Lots of warm greetings from HHS,
Bernadette De Cat

in January the PAD as the department of the Secretariat of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the Länder in the Federal Republic of Germany invited some coordinators of COMENIUS projects to a meeting in Hamburg.
The main topic was "Learning social responsibility and values education".
During the meeting we had some presentations of running projects and a very good lecture of Prof. Dr. Hermann Josef Abs with the subject "How can the transnational partnership make firm for social learning?".
The 38 participants came from whole Germany but "COOMON GOODS AND PEACE" was the only project coming from Saxony.

REPORT COORDINATORS’ MEETING .
1.Welcome:
Arnfinn Nilsen , coördinator and pedagogical leader of Hadeland secondary school welcomes the delegations from Italy, Hungary, Germany and Belgium. He hopes for a quality meeting offering lots of opportunities to deepen the knowledge concerning COMMON GOODS AND PEACE and , of course, to make new friends and experience the warm Norwegian hospitality. He still regrets the date for the meeting – november- but we assure him that, because of the low temperatures and the beginning snowfall , we get a perfect idea of what Norway can be like in Winter! Cold but so beautiful!!!

3.Reference to welcome by Lord Mayor:
On Monday 08.11.2010 all delegations spent part of the morning at Gran Municipality where they were welcomed by the Lord Mayor, introducing Brandbu, Gran and Hadeland .
A specialist in energy refers to the theme of the project , stating that norway is a country rich in Common Goods. These are being provided on 3 levels , the state , the county and the municipality. In the 1830’s Norwegian municipalities were established. 200 years later the situation is the same but the tasks are different. Having to take care of education, welfare, mass media… brings in different terms , solutions and principles ( ex. climate change, local solutions for general world wide problems!).
Scandinavian countries reach a high level of COMMON GOODS Thinking of the oil and the Scandinavian model of high level of welfare 2 solutions come up: education in democracy (for all!) and the trust between people and government .
A clear example is given in the greenhouse gases (caused by climate change) leading to new challenges for each municipality. They try to reach 3 main goals: reducing CO2 greenhouse gas, more efficient use of energy and change from fossile energy sources to renewable energy sources (problem: cars, heating of houses!)
The solution is summarized in key words such as: solar energy, recycling, turndown heating, public transport, biomass energy…
Concluding this lecture the question is put: what is your opportunity to change something, to have an impact? Basic answer is in “young people”! They can make the difference!!! (local council,Young politicians… )
This visit to the town hall and this interesting lectur really put the focus correctly on the topic of this COMENIUS project: Common Goods and Peace!
